In early days, many of them shop during special seasons like (festival, functions) etc. There was a purpose in shopping. But, now in this modern world shopping has become the regular habit. Generally, the concept of shopping refers to the things or goods we purchase what we wanted from the shop. The person who sells the goods is called as seller (shopkeeper) . A customer is a person who buys things or goods from the shop. Mostly women love to do shopping. It is an entertainment and relieves stress.

From the ancient to the modern, people have been connected through sharing, bartering, trading etc. Shopping remains to be the essential part in daily life over every period. Only the way of shopping has been changed over the days, due to technological advancements, increasing population etc.

In ancient days, the shopping market would be in an open up space area where all types of goods were sold. The exchanges among the seller and the customer were not only the cash but even goods exchange method also been followed.

For example: For 1kg of sugar half kg rice shall be exchanged between the seller and the customer instead of cash. During those days, the shops were not closer. There shall be shops rarely. Only markets were running over particular days or at the end of the week days etc.

Beyond the internal (domestic) trade, long distance trade among different countries through land or water (maritime trade) were also been followed in the ancient period. These were recorded in the Indian history and many Tamil novels stand ad a evidence which proves that trading among different countries were from the earlier days in India. Even the colonialism in India also proves that the British and the Europeans excreted their power by conquest and trade. This shows that how trade played a major role in among the countries to become rich.

The shopping has become the most important thing in today’s life. Shopping brings happiness, untold joy in one self. To make oneself updated, stylish and trendy, shopping plays a big role nowadays. Even the COVID-19 pandemic situations have not stopped the people from shopping. Now we are in the world where we enjoy shopping from here, there and everywhere we wanted.
